  • Talk about being in the right place at the the right time…

    Dec 10

Some of my readers, friends and family know that I’ve been fascinated with the internet for over 10 years. Yep, I’m an information addict. I love to research information.

I have to have the best of everything that I can afford. That means: I promise not to throw my money into things that are rip-offs or just bad products.

Well… the truth be told. I’m sure if I dig far enough into the ton of boxes in my basement, I would find many receipts from products I’ve purchased on the internet. Of course, those products all touted the millions of dollars I would make in my sleep.

Now get this! I think I’m actually pretty smart! OK, if I’m not smart, then I at least I have some common sense.

So why haven’t I made ALL THAT MONEY yet?

AAugh! The pain of being honest with myself is like being in a torture chamber…

I’ll try not to expose every little detail, but the first one is procrastination. Yea, that’s a nice way of saying “LAZY” (notice I haven’t put the word lazy in BOLD print).

The next reason is everytime I sat down to actually make some money, I didn’t really know how to use the stuff I bought. I found myself wondering from one thing to another, to another.

Oh, that’s called lack of focus. And while I’m at it, my organizational skills are awful.

Alright – I’m sure you get the picture. I haven’t made any money because the magic button I was pushing doesn’t work. But that’s OK…. Because through a series of wierd events, I found Alex Jeffreys. And how fortunate I was. It’s that moment of being in the right place at the right time.

And having the right mind set.

I’m in his coaching program. And guess what? Look at me. I wrote my first blog.

Now of course, writing my first blog entry isn’t going to make me any money, but it’s the beginning of my ACTION PLAN.

What’s that saying? Oh yea, “LEAD by EXAMPLE.”

I can’t tell you how much I have accomplished already. My first coaching program was on December 2, 2008 and today is the 10th.

To date, I have set up 2 URL addresses MrsReneeOlson.com and MarketingwithRenee.com

If your reading this entry, your at my MarketingwithRenee.com site. And the MrsReneeOlson.com will be reserved for later development.

I have set up my hosting site and have incorporated wordpress to write my blog. I even have several different themes I can use. Right now, I happen to like the one you see, but I’m really torn between 2 column or 3 column layout.

At this moment, 2 column or 3 column doesn’t matter. I have a plan that I must follow.

    Now let’s see… What’s next? Hmmmm…

    1. Set up Google Analytics

    2. Develop a system to keep track of all my user-names and passwords

    3. Set up an aweber account

And to all my fellow students in the Alex Jeffreys’ program. Thank you. You are a wealth of information.

    Till next time,

    Mrs Renee Olson

  1. To track your usernames and passwords, consider using http://www.roboform.com. It is one of my best investments ever, and even comes in a free version without any crippling limitations.

And I agree. You are lucky to be part of this coaching program. I believe that Alex actually wants his students to succeed. I’m a fairly good judge of character (its part of my daily work), and he appears both sincere and competent.

I remember one who said that he paid $1997 for coaching, and when it was over it was “ok, this was the last session. good bye!”.

  2. Hi there again.

The way Alex laid it out during the last brainstorming session, was that you had your blog on one domain and your PPP on another domain. This makes it much easier to manage, as you can drive traffic independently to your PPP. I came up with the domain http://www.buildinglistswithalex.com (which is nearly identical with listbuildingwithalex.com) and set up the squeezepage there… So the thing would be to come up with a domain that kind of capture the essence of the product. You can set up a squeezepage on your blog, but then you want to send your customers to another site for the actual product. also, there is nothing stopping you from setting up your PPP on more than one site :)

So long as you have a website, have put up the squeezepage, configured aweber and paypal, you are ready to accept leads and orders.

Please give me a beep if there is something you need help with.

Ill soon build a new list with people interested in social networking and media, so hopefully you will listen in when I get that going :)

  3. Hi Renee,

I’m another student of Alex Jeffreys. Isn’t this so great? I really like your blog! This is just my opinion, but I like the 3 column blog. Mine is 2 column and I feel like stuff just isn’t fitting on it! I’m going to wait to change it, since I’m likely to mess it up!

I’ve been trying to make money online for a year now, and just like you I had too much info and didn’t really know exactly what to do with it. So I just piled up more and more information! I’m so happy that I’m learning what to do with it all now!

I’m going to add you to my blogroll.

    Talk to you soon,

    Lori
