  1. Renee, that is so cute!

You did a great job; love it!

I’ll check my site in IE. Thanks for mentioning it. I better get hopping with my video. Will let you know when I have something. How did you do that first part?

    See you later,
    Theresa

  2. Hey Renee

Wow, impressive video, and yes it was very funny lol – I’m so glad I visited today! I’ll be adding it to my youtube account playlist.

Keep up the great work and thanks for the advice on taking action and the planner as well.

Well, I best get a crack on making my own video.

Speak soon and have a great day!
    Nigel

  3. Hi Theresa,

I’m having trouble with posting and commenting. They don’t show up correctly in the admin site. So I’ll pop back over to you and let you know what I did.

I started with Windows Movie maker using stop motion animation. Windows Movie Maker kept crashing and I didn’t have the luxury of time to try the fixes shown on youtube videos. So I searched for another free trial that would do what I wanted. I found Stop Motion Pro.

The trial stated that it would put a watermark across the screen which I dismissed because if the software worked easy enough I would buy it for my 8 year old to use. Well as it turned out, it works very easy. I didn’t even use the features I wanted to like onionskinning. I thought after my purchase, the watermark would be gone, but not the case. And because were in a contest, I didn’t feel like I had time to remake it.

I had my trouble along the way and almost gave up because “the forces” were testing me. Sometimes my video camera did what it was suppose to do. Other times it would just cut off in the middle of my take. The cutting off explains the lousy lighting. I was running through some takes to see if the camera would stay on and the was the one that worked.

I’m on my way over to you to leave this info and to check if I get that black background.

    Talk to you soon.
    Mrs Renee Olson

  4. Hi Nigel,

I am sooo glad you came to visit. You know you’re like our video king. Hey what exactly is a playlist?

Let me know when your video is done. Actually I’ll be watching for it anyway.

    Thanks,
    Mrs Renee olson

  5. hey Renee,

Well done on your first video – and a stop motion one!
Yes, we should all definetely be out of the box for 2009 and have a rock with two eyes and a smiley face :-)
One thing I’d like to comment on was that I had a slight problem reading the white text because it clashed with the white computer screen in the background, but what I would like to add is that you are a natural in front of the camera, that’s fantastic! You seem so at ease on screen that I’m sure you’ll do great on the vlogosphere.

    keep up the good vlogging.

    regards

    Guy

  6. Hi Renee, Just watched your video and I too thougt it was cute and lively, always did enjoy rocks and now they are also lovable. Best to you

  7. Hi Renee,

Thanks for stopping by my blog to alert me to your video.

    Well … WOW!

I was intrigued by the bag of potatoes or whatever those things were. It was very clever and I have NO idea how you did it. I thought that was pretty incredible but then I sort of wondered where it was all heading after a while until …

    YOU appeared!

Darls, you do NOT need any of that special effects stuff. You could be a newsreader on the TV in ANY city of the world. You have a wonderful, natural presence but the one thing that swept me up was the fact that you were believable. Who is that lady in the US? Kate Couric? (sp)

That is what my sub-conscious was telling me. It was saying this lady is VERY BELIEVABLE! And that is an unquantifiable quality. A person either has it or they haven’t. You HAVE it. Plenty of it – whatever IT is! LOL!

You could have been selling igloos to eskimos and they would have bought from you. I mean you could be selling used cars and you would sell every bucket of junky old nuts and bolts on the lot. It is just an undefinable presence that you have. I’m finding it hard to describe. Natural sincerity maybe?

I guess I could just say very friendly, very happy and somebody in tune with the universe. This is definitely YOUR forte!

I agree with what Guy said above too about the white font. It was too light to read and far too fleeting.

But like I said, chuck out the whizzbang gagetry. That has limited interest once it has gone on for a bit but you have unlimited interest. I could have watched a whole lot more. Very nice. Well done. Super, in fact.

    Gary SIMPSON

PS: May I be so bold to ask about the “Mrs?” I think it would be far better without it BUT, it is your choice. It’s just that every time I see it I wonder why. It seems so formal and well, it doesn’t match the person I see. Anyway, not really my business. Just tossed it in there for you to think about. Ultimately, it’s your choice.

  8. Gary…

You are always right! SO far… I know your still human, but you always know how to make people feel good. You have some of the nicest things to say. I really do appreciate your words because I know of the “Bad Gary.”

I have to tell you that the little bit of animation is suppose to represent my struggle with using a planner. I haven’t had to juggle this many things for a lot of years and not to mention, the links I find when I’m hopping. Boy, I can use up hours just exploring what other people write about. So…if I can’t laugh about it now, it would be easy to quit because it’s too hard to keep up with you. I have always admired people like you, who truely manage their time well.

You hit the bullseye of my identity crisis. Any suggestions? I sent you an email regarding this. And if anyone has an idea, submit a comment. Reneeolson.com is taken and reneesblog.com is under bidding. My maiden name ReneeTatar.com just doesn’t sound right. I’ve been an Olson for too long.

And for the record, readers, The Gazz Man has a schedule you can download at http://motivationselfesteem.com/talk/
    Mrs Renee Olson

  9. Hi Renee,

Glad to be able to encourage you. We have a lot of budding stars in th F500 and you are one of them. It is amazing to watch people grow into who they should be when they are given just a little bit of self confidence. I am now seeing lighthouses getting switched on all over the place.

May you shine ever brighter and brighter as your confidence grows.

    Gary

PS: Domain naming rights are endless. Just think of ones using the prefix Renee …something punchy to describe your niche and then … dot com. It is something you must find. Write out 20 possiblities on 20 different cards and then put them in order on a bench top. Once you have got the order correct 1st time around (and it may take a while), turn all the cards upside down and number them with a pencil on the back from your best (#1) to your least fave (#20).

I think the PS is gonna be bigger than the rest – LOL!

Shuffle the cards, wait a couple of hours and repeat the process without looking at the previous score. Then do the same again with the numbering.

Repeat 2 or 3 more times. Add up all the numbers. Discard the ten cards with the highest numbers. These are no good.

Now work with just the ten cards. Keep at it until you are down to just three cards. Soon it will be obvious what you will want and…

… if your first choice is taken then you always have the second choice which is probably a “toss up” with the first one anyway. Repeat if necessary.

    Jeez, what a PS!

    Eventually

  10. Hey Gary,

I’m plowing through your blog and you’re over here leaving me comments. You are special.

You didn’t have to got hrough the trouble of writing your PS because I found on your tips page. But I have to admit this version is better. Thankyou. I do think I need to make a change before I feel like I can’t.

I am dying to know who Q is. Come on you can tell me. You know I will keep your secret.

    Renee

  11. Hi Renee

Thank you for your good questions you sent to my blog.
I will be creating a group at JV village today called
    “Panda traffic project”
Here I will answer all of these questions and log my own progress.
Hopefully others will also log their progress
then we can capitalize on our efforts to become proficient and productive in posting to classifieds.
Hope to catch up with you there over the weekend.
    Your video is brilliant

    Keep well and prosper

    Jim

  12. Hi Renee

I’ve finally managed to get over to see your video (actually it was all those mentions on the Gazz man’s blog that gave me the kick I needed).

Boy, that was good & made me smile! Yes I know that there are things for improvement, but you’ve done it – well done!

I’m really pleased that you went out and found the stop motion animation – I have to admit that I haven’t done anything about looking at animation programmes as I have so much else on my plate.

I really must try to find a quiet time this weekend when I can get my video done (perhaps I need to go to bed early tonight & get up early tomorrow to do it!). It’s not easy with a houseful and the laptop on the kitchen table…

So great to see you rocking with this – hopefully I will be by the end of the weekend too and I’ll let you know!

I see I’m not on your blogroll yet, but I know we have moved on from getting those set up and other things have taken over that priority.

    I’ll be back soon!

    Hilary

  13. Hi Hilary,

First… I have added you to my blogroll. Yesterday I started to make a list of some of my favorite students. You are on my list. There are only 40 students on my spread sheet, but I’m sure that will change as I formulate why someone is there and will increase as I include the outsiders (or other students). My list is not a public list. It’s just a list of people I relate to for any given reason, but’s it’s a strong attraction.

Thank you for the mention of Gazzman’s http://motivationselfesteem.com/talk/ site. I actually get a lot of traffic from him. I just love the way he works this business. I’m sure you figured out that he is on my list too. What a leader in all essence of the word.

As I read your comment , I can actually visualize your work space. I sometimes work on my kitchen table too because I like to spread my stuff out. I’m very visual.

You know, maybe you shouldn’t wait for that quiet moment and actually embrace your own reality. There aren’t many Im(ers) that won’t relate to a real day in the life of Hilary. Prove you can be successful with your family there and the computer on the table. I think it would be OK to share your struggle for a quiet moment while you work, but show us what you do to stay focused to complete the task at hand. Humm, maybe that could be turned into a video.

I really am excited to see what you come up with because I know it will be great. Coming over to see you.

    Renee

  14. Hi Jim,

I will definatly be in the Village today. I really am curious about what might happen with the classified ads and your traffic.

For those of you who don’t , you’re missing out if you don’t read his blog. Jim was number one in Alex Jeffreys contest for generating TRAFFIC. He even put up a screen shoot of his proof using Google Analytics.

Thanks for the visit and see you at JV Village. Amnone want to follow me? Click on my badge below (Right Sidebar)

  15. Hi Renee,
Thanks for coming over to our site and you kind words about our video. I have to say yours was great! Me and dad sat here in amazment it was pretty impressive!

By the sound of it you had to overcome some technical issues so that makes even more impressive.

Well done- we always beat the computers in the end!lol

    Becky

  16. [...] of them are really funny and entertaining to watch, including Paul Hamilton’s silly outtakes, Renne Olsons stop motion stone capers, Garry Parkes  spoof on AJ’s serious video and Doug Stewarts homage to Star Wars ‘Guru [...]

  17. Hi Becky,

I had terrible technical issues. Especially with Windows movie maker. That darn program crashed so many times and fouled out my computer that I had to use one of the kids computer to finish my work. That goofy program messed with the storage on my hard drive and had me convinced that I ran out of space. I didn’t even have enough space to defragment without deleting a bunch of files.

You are so RIGHT! We always BEAT the computers, even if it’s with a sledge hammer:) You know I really need to figure out how to put one of those emoticons in here.

    Take care, we’ll talk soon,
    Renee

  18. Hi Renee

    Thanks for your reply.

I have actually managed to prepare the PowerPoint and script for my video today, so I’m quite pleased with that.

I didn’t use the kitchen table as my husband was out stocktaking at work and so I had the luxury of the main computer in the study!

I have downloaded Camtasia and am going through the tutorials before I start recording, so I guess it will be tomorrow after work before I can do anything now, but I will let you know when it is done.

    Go me and us all!

    Hilary

  19. Hi Renee.

Loved the video very much, you came across as being natural in front of the camera, which as I know is not the easiest thing to pull off.

When I did my video, I would liken myself to a swan, calm and collected from the waist up but the legs re going every which way.

    Speak soon,

    Paull

  20. Hi Paull,

Thank you for watching. You know Paull, after watching some of the other videos… I’m starting to cringe. But I wish I thought of including the bloopers like you did. Talk about being Natural. You are.

    Talk to you soon,

    Renee

  21. Hilary,

I know your up to something really good. Having the script and the power point done is most of the battle. I didn’t use Camtasia, but I’d like to know is it gives you any trouble.

    Can’t wait to SEE YOU!

    Renee

  22. hi Renee, loved the vid ;-) i have posted a ‘tribute’ video to Alex on my blog, i am not part of competition but would appreciate any opinion you may have ;-) .good luck with video cheers Tommy http://www.tommy-mclaughlin.com

  23. Hi Renee,
I was over visiting JT’s place earlier and saw your comment about a schedule. Thanks for the reminder.

I sat down at the table this morning (without computer) :) and read over my notes from the past two months, wrote goals for this week and a schedule of daily tasks. I posted on that subject.

Garry left me a comment which was helpful. He said I should have myself in the video I made. So, I’m back to the drawing board with my video.

You’re doing really well and inspire me to keep at it,
    Theresa

  24. Hi Tommy,

I’m on my way over as soon as I hit reply. It surprises me that your not submitting for the contest. There’s plenty of time for you to reconsider.

Thanks for coming by and leaving a comment.

    Renee

  25. Hi Renee,

The butterfly is here! Just as well as it’s cold over here in the UK, I need a little sunshine & warmth!

Anyway, I thought I’d pop over to let you know that the Gaz-Man is about to release the identity of Q – but only once he’s got 100 comments on his latest post. I’ve left a huge comment over there, but then you know what I’m like when I get going!

So I’d suggest popping over to his blog to have a look & comment – then we can all find out who Q is!

Flying away now, distracted by something bright and shiny…!

    Nikki (the butterfly!)

  26. Hey Renee

Thanks for recently dropping by my blog and apologies I should have contacted you yesterday but unforeseen technical problems overshot my schedule and hence video is launched today instead.

Anyway, like your video – I hoped I have stepped out of the box – lol

Speak to you and all the best
    Nigel

  27. Hi Renee,

Thanks for the nice comments. I do appreciate them. I get a kick out of helping people.

So, you wanna know who Q is huh? Well soon everyone will know.

I am just about to tell everyone who my fabulous designer is. You won’t want to miss this either so keep checking back and join in the fun as the countdown has well and truly started.

Also, Parkesy is gonna publish his PPP#3 soona nd there is a big push that I have made in it for women. You won’t want to miss it.

  28. Hey Renee

Just thought I drop by and noticed the question.

A playlist is simply like a list of something to do except with videos instead. Now on Youtube, you can set one up easily. Let’s say you found a video you like and you would like to view it again without having to search for it, you can select the “Add to playlist” option.

Now, if you have a playlist set up in advance you can simply click on the “Add to playlist button and the select a playlist from the drop down menu, or if you haven’t got one set up yet or would like to create a new one, all you have to do is Add to new playlist and it will then take you to a screen where you enter a title for your playlist, and a few words for description as whether you would like the playlist to be public or private.

Now, whenever you see a video you like and will probably want to watch again or for future reference, simply add to you playlist. It’s that simple and it saves a lot of time looking for certain videos when you want to link your blog to them.

    Hope that helps
    Nigel

  29. Hi Nigel,

Thanks for noticing my question about the playlists. Your response has saved me a lot of time because I was using subscriptions to try and keep track of the videos I like, which of course, didn’t take me where I wanted to go.

I have some questions regarding a plugin called “Better Comments Manager”. I installed it because I thought I could have my responses show right below a comment instead of half way down the page. Now , I might be using it wrong because it’s my responses aren’t showing like I want, so this time I chose (New Reply) instead of (threaded reply).

I’ll see what it looks like when I’m done.

    Coming over to ya,

    Renee

  30. Hi Gary,

Thanks for checking in with me. I am embarrassed that I came to your blog Monday night and saw the challange, but I was too tired to give a worthy response. It kills me to think I would have been right behind Hilary (you and Q don’t count). I’ll be there today and might have to email you regarding Q’s services.

FYI – I took the day off yesterday to hang with my Mom. She’s getting ready for a vacation in Hawaii. Isn’t that why we do the internet? Freedom of choice!

A push for the women? Coming from you, it doesn’t surprise me. You rock at Motivating people.

Be there soon and I’ll follow the link,
    Renee

  31. Hello my little butterfly…

I can always count on you to tend to the flock. I am dying to know who Q is.

Be careful of bright and shiny objects… small children are usually attached waiting with a hidden net. If you know what I mean?

    Renee

  32. Hi Nigel,

Don’t feel so bad about not getting here… At least you were working. I was out “playing” with my Mom. You know, girl stuff. Eating out, meeting friends, shopping and appointments.

I can’t wait to see the video. I’ll right over.

    Renee

  33. Hi Renee,

That was a very wise statement (warning!) to me there. However, underneath my slightly superficial exterior, I am a fierce tiger prowling around. I know that things are most certainly not what they can seem, and therefore I do take appropriate caution…but I still like bright shiny things!! I can’t help it…

I think it’ll be very soon that Gaz-Man unleashes the truth about Q, so we won’t have to wait for much longer…did you see my long post over on Gary’s site? As a fellow female in this world of internet marketing, I thought you might enjoy the points that I raised…(it’s up near the top before I reverted back into more superficial territory!).

Flying off again now, it’s raining here, and my wings are getting wet…

    See you soon,

    Nikki

  34. Hi Renee

Thanks for visiting my blog recently, now ir regards to you question, it looks like Better Comment Manager is not the right plugin as from my google research it looks like an extension to the basic reply comment feature in wordpress and not something that replies next to each individual comment.

What I think you need is a Threaded Comments plugin – I’ve not researched it properly so am not sure but apprently there’s a Brian Meidell’s threaded plugin. Now some people say it’s great, some say it makes you take your wordpress blog apart – so I’m not 100% certain.

Just wonderging have you tried asking any other students on the fortunate 500 who may be able to shed some light.

Sorry I couldn’t be of help and Best Regards
    Nigel

  35. You guys are rock stars and I’m learning chords. Renee, I have no technical expertise, so I can only comment as an unprofessional viewer, who coincidentally, is your target market I suppose. You have stage presence, calmness on camera, you project what you preach: self-discipline, action, accountability . . . Your image was a little blurry, and a slightly bigger wisp of a smile occasionally would be good. We are all lost and hurting, and we want you to be the Feel Good Fairy and reassure us we CAN get back in charge of our lives.

  36. Hi Renee,

Dirk Here, another one of Alex Jeffreys Crew stopping in to say hello.
I saw you in JV Village and watched your video, awesome job even tougher from stills and many of them I’m sure. I thought it was great.
I see you’ve been busy with your blog and it looks great.
Keep up the good work, I have to get back into the video making again.
You’re well on your way to shine in 09.

    To your success,
    Dirk Blanke

  37. Hello to all…

Nikki- There is no doubt in mind that you are a fierce tiger. All prey beware.

Nigel- Thank you for taking the time to look into my question. I always come to you first because your reliable.

John and Dirk – Thank you to both of you. I don’t think we’ve had the pleasure to converse until now… I appriciate your advice and the time you took to make a comment.

Dirk I will stop in the village later today to see what is happening. I’ve been busy working on some new plans, so I’ve been a little scarce lately.

    Talk to you all soon,.

    Renee

  38. It looks both of us think in same way
