We’ve all been to YouTube a few times and have accepted video content as part of the internet these days. News sites publish their TV content on the web, and even shows or whole movies can be watched online in some places. Live webcam chats have also been offered by a few major community sites.

But with videos and webcam feeds becoming a normality for the user, smaller sites and business were left out unless they were syndicating YouTube content, an option not leaving a very professional impression to a websites visitor.

High bandwidth cost for streaming video are only part of the reason for the low popularity among webmasters. While it is possible to stream static video from a webserver within certain limits, live video or webcam contents require an application server to do so. Having to stream the video from the beginning up to the desired part for seeking makes webserver streamed video tedious for some tasks and even more expensive in bandwidth cost.

A browser has no video capabilities and requires a plugin to play movies or display cam streams. Currently only Adobes Flash Player has the video capabilities and the installation base to be a feasible client technology for this task. However, the player and the protocols it uses are closed source and for a long time have only been known to Adobe. This enabled Adobe to be the only provider of a server side streaming solution. Unfortunately the price segment of the Flash Media Server is a painful one for smaller businesses and completely unreachable for hobbyist webmasters. This made the video market especially for live webcam streams big boys turf.

The first to break this monopoly was the media server Wowza, which too is a commercial project. While offering some interesting license options for sites to add some smaller video features, building a full fledged video or webcam chat site with Wowza does not come cheap either.

As bandwidth cost declined some sites have started to offer video streamed from a webserver without the seeking abilities of a media server. It wasn’t too pretty, but it worked. Live webcam video in chats and communities however remained a privilege of the big businesses. Especially the community chat market had been dominated by very few companies.

Not even three years ago a new open source project named “red5″ started to be the first to offer a free server for streaming video and remoting, opening the door for enthusiasts and low budget startups in an until then fairly closed market. While the server is still in an alpha stage, it has been used for quite a few live projects already, ending the lack of innovation in this market. It is capable of far more than just playing video files or streaming and recording webcam video. It has full AMF support and shared objects, providing the base to create rich interactive multimedia applications such as chats or even games.

Webcam chat sites and video communities suddenly became very affordable to build and many have popped up in the near past. It is always interesting to follow the explosive development of a niche, when new open source software shifts the borders.

Thomas has been a webmaster building community sites since the early 90ties. He has beefed up his free webcam chat sites with new technology based on red5 lately.Article Source:http://www.articlesbase.com/internet-articles/new-technology-boosts-webcam-chats-and-video-content-1130689.html

When Website design first started no real attention was paid to search engine optimization. Website designers knew html or an html design program such as Front Page or Dreamweaver. A good designer also had an eye for layout, colors, etc. Search Engine Optimization was little known and less understood. Since far fewer websites had been designed and put on the Internet you still had a chance to be found even if you paid little heed to search engine marketing.

This is no longer true. The number of websites available on the web and the amount of competition they provide is mind boggling. This is true for most subjects and areas of business.

For instance just for fun last night I typed into MSN’s BING, Google and Yahoo the name of my old boarding school, Institut Auf Dem Rosenberg. Even though the name is in German and I typed it into English language version of these three search engines my search pulled up 99,700 results in MSN, 35,500 results in Google and 276,000 results in Yahoo. Strange, but true. You can imagine how many results show up if you type in something like paving stones, get a new mortgage, or diet secrets. In case you’re curious about it paving stones calls up 665,000 in Google. Get a new mortgage produces 477,000,000 results in Yahoo and type diet secrets into Bing.com and you will get 13,600,000 results. Now that’s competition!

If you’re providing a service or product in a smaller geographic area your chances of being found in a users search increase remarkably. Not only is the competition naturally less but the chances are good that other businesses or professional services such as yours have not yet realized the incredible power of Internet advertising.

Succeeding with search engine optimization and getting high rankings in the natural listings for your local business is not difficult. The on-site optimization just needs to be an out-growth of natural design. This is easiest to do if it’s incorporated into the structure and content of the site from its inception. This is SEO Website Design.

Here are some things to consider for ensuring your site is search engine friendly from the very beginning:

Make sure every page of your site has the proper meta tags.

All internal links must be somewhere on the first page in regular html. It’s fine if you want to create some very cool buttons for your site in Flash or JavaScript. But the search engines all have difficulty reading and following those links. The easiest solution to this is to repeat the links in at the bottom of each page. You can do this in a way that will not detract from your design yet will give the search engines a way to follow your links to the other pages of your site.

Make your design clear to visitors. Lead each person browsing your site where you want them to go. If you want them to see all the services you have to offer make that the focus of your home page. If you want your visitor to go to a product page and buy something make the link to that page your focus.

Keep you site, new, interesting and fresh. You want people (and search engine spiders) to return to your site over and over again. Give them a reason to do so. A website should never be left to stagnate.

Create two site maps. One is a list of all the pages of your site much like a table of contents in a book. The other is a sitemap done in a special format that can be read by the search engines. This sitemap will increase the chances that each page of your site is indexed and ranked.

Once your site is published with correct meta tags and lots of content start looking for external links. Get other websites to link to yours. The more quality links the better.

Repeat. Keep going over your site, adding content, checking links, adding to your site maps and looking for external links. Over time your site will rise in the ranks and customers and clients will be finding you in the natural listings.

If you already have a website you can still use the above steps as a guide to making your website search engine friendly and getting listed in the natural search results of Google, Yahoo and Bing.

If you want to use your article writing skills to make money by attracting masses of traffic to your website you must learn how to write articles effectively. Writing articles is a skill and effetive article writing takes time to learn.

There is a large number of reasons for people writing articles, and if you do it properly, you will generally achieve what you intended to by writing yours. Online, that will usually be to advertise a product or market a website. However, it is the ‘doing it well’ that is the problem for most people, and no matter how hard you try or how good a writer you believe yourself to be, internet article writing is more than simply putting a few words together in a sensible way.

However, you will have to stand back and take a long look at what you are trying to achieve with the articles before you try to use them promote your website or products. Prior to beginning your article you should have a clear idea of what your objective is. When writing articles for ezines or article directory submissions, keep in mind that you won’t normally be allowed to provide links to your website or even to actively promote your products.

To be successful, therefore, you must be able to persuade your readers to visit your website – the site that you list in the ‘author’s resource’ section of your article that normally appears at the end of it. Nobody will click on that link unless they believe that:

a) You really know what you are talking about and can help them with their problems or answer their questions, or b) They believe that your website is going to give them the extra information they are seeking.

Just as with any other skill, you have to learn how to write articles effectively – it is not a skill that ‘comes ‘naturally’, and even good fiction novelists don’t understand the concepts involved. Writing articles in the world of internet marketing is a totally different skill to writing professionally for public consumption. The use of language is different, and the semantic approach to content is totally divorced from the type of writing of which Tom Clancy or Agatha Christie were masters.

That is what you have to learn: article writing skills, and the effective writing of articles intended both for submission to directories and for publishing on your own site. In fact, it is possible for your article to appear as content on a number of other websites! If you don’t understand what I mean by that, then you still have a lot to learn about writing articles to ensure your online success.

It is well beyond the scope of this article to teach how to write articles to meet Google’s needs, and to enable them to act as adverts for your websites, products and services. Google is specifically mentioned, because that is by far the biggest search engine online and many others employ Google’s standards and techniques – even, in some cases, their search results.

Google appear to have taken a positive attitiude to articles published on directories, even to the extend of apparently delaying the duplicate content penalty for articles published on multiple directories. Even duplicate content between a number of article directories appears to take a long time to be noticed by Google.

Having learned how to write articles effectively, and having gained the article writing abilities that you will need to effectively market your site and product online, then you will have gained a skill that will enable you to attain high listings for your websites that will not only attract masses of free traffic, but also provide with exposure that no other means of advertising could possible achieve for you.

If you know how to write articles properly, then you can make money by using article marketing as a very effective online advertising technique. Not only does Google love article content, whether published in article directories or on your own website, but visitors also like to read about the topics that interest them, particularly if you write well and to the point.

It is beyond the scope of this article to teach you how to write articles properly since I cannot condense the contents of a 100+ page book on the subject into a few hundred words, but here are some tips on how to write in a manner that is rewarded by the search engines and keeps readers interested in what you have to say.

Use a Title that Attracts Attention

Your title should reflect the content of the article, and persuade anybody seeking the information you are providing to read it. The title used for this article explains exactly what I am doing now, and if you really want to learn how to write articles and use them to advertise your website or products, then you will be likely to have started reading.

For search engine purposes, do some keyword research and choose a keyword that has a good demand, but not too high a supply or you will have too much competition. Choose another that supports the first: this can be more competitive, such as the term ‘article marketing’ that I have used here. Use the better keyword at the start and the more competitive one at the end of the title. Selecting the right keywords is an important part of learning how to write articles.

The Opening Paragraph

This will either chase the reader away or keep them on the page. If they reach past the opening paragraph, they will likely read the article to the end, assuming it is not too long. Around 500 – 900 words are best for an article, and no more than 80 for the opening paragraph.

Use this paragraph to state the purpose and content of the article, and to stress any benefits the reader will receive by reading it, such as “you can make money by using article marketing. . .” Use the keywords in the first 100 characters of your opening paragraph, including spaces. The search engines regard these as the most important characters in your article. After that, the final paragraph is the next most important since many search engines check that to ensure you are maintaining relevance.

The Article Body

Write your articles in short paragraphs of 1 – 3 sentences. People like their information in bite-sized pieces, and easily get bored with long rambling sentences and paragraphs. Be short and to the point, and never stray from the topic. Do not over-use keywords, but use semantically related text to expand on the topic and make the meaning of the article unambiguously clear to search engine algorithms.

Search engines calculate relevance to a topic by means of mathematical equations known as algorithms, and use pre-programmed vocabulary rules to determine that, not just the keywords you use. Excessive use of your keywords will be punished by your article not being listed. When writing articles, you must keep completely on topic, and not digress to other subjects.

The Final Paragraph

The final paragraph should sum up the article, and also contain one incidence of each of the keywords used in the title. Two or three sentences are sufficient.

The Author’s Resource

If your article is for submission to article directories, you are permitted to include a few words about yourself or your website. Some directories offer a separate box for this while others allow you to add it after the final paragraph. Use the resource wisely, including a link to your website and also the product name if you have one.

Make sure that the link is to a page on your website related to the topic of the article. In this article, my resource leads to a page on my site offering a free gift and free course on writing articles and article marketing, whereby readers can expand on what they have learned by reading this.

These are the very basics of how to write articles for publication or website content. Article marketing is an extremely useful advertising technique to use online, and offers several routes by which visitors can find a way to your website. By becoming proficient in writing articles and how to use them properly, you have a marvellous free tool at your disposal that can be much more profitable than pay-per-click or any other form of paid advertising.

Affiliate marketing is a great revenue source for the internet marketing entrepreneur. The thing is, a lot of other people are aware of that fact as well and will be competing against you for the same customers.

There are plenty of potential customers out there and basic affiliate marketing campaigns will probably net you some sales. But, if you want to truly make a great income, you need something that will set you apart from the other people selling the product. Having an effective bonus offer is a great way of doing this.

A common bonus offer that you see is either a single ebook or a set of them. Depending on the quality of these ebooks, that can either be an effective bonus or a lackluster one. Some marketers will pick up some cheap PLR materials and pass them off as an incredibly valuable bonus. While it might land the sale, it will likely decrease the potential for customers coming back to buy again, if they aren’t satisfied.

The best way to determine the quality of your bonus is to ask whether or not the bonus would be viable as a standalone product. If the answer is no, then you have to do something to add value to that bonus. If the answer is yes, then you’ve increased your potential to make a lot of sales.

How do you add value to a bonus? That will depend on the specific product you are marketing, but a good choice for a wide range of products is to offer continuing support. For example, if you are marketing web development software, then a way to create a valuable bonus would be to create an online support forum exclusive to people who buy the product from you.

It will take a bit of start-up money to get that forum going, but if you populate it with good information, then people will respond. Also, this strategy can generate ongoing income. Offer your clients a free trial period in the forum, and charge them for continued access. You may be thinking to yourself that this seems like a lot of work, but it is less than it seems.

After a certain point, all of the most common questions people have will be answered. Then, all you have to do is respond to a question with a link to an answer previously provided. The larger the forum gets, the less work you have to do. Its possible that you will get people asking to buy a subscription when they have purchased the product elsewhere!

There are lots of ways to create an effective bonus. A little brainstorming and grunt work at the beginning of a campaign can pay dividends in the future.

Hey look what I found. It’s called WriteToMyBlog.com. I have been trying to create professional looking posts within wordpress and goodness gracious, you probably already know how well that WAS NOT working out for me. Try not to laugh to hard. Even the best of us get caught by the Duh net.

A fellow blogger (whose site has been down for a while) wrote about using Windows Live to write and manage posts on blogs. Unfortunately, no matter how many times I downloaded the Windows Live Writer, it caused me nothing but grief.

The first time I downloaded it and tried to use it – it caused some kind of memory issue. When I tried to defragment my disc I had less than 15 mb available. I couldn’t even defragment without deleting a bunch of other files just to make enough room to complete the task. Since then, I have downloaded, updated, uninstalled and repeated those steps several times.

No matter what I do, I get an error message that my memory is corrupt. Now, now…c’mon, I’m talking about my computer. Yea, I saw it coming. So I would send the error report to Microsoft and then continue on my way. I would get half way through my post and the darn system would crash. Needless to say, you all know what happened to the post I was writing. Gone, gone, gone.

In the meantime, I kept trying to write and respond to my blog through the admin panel. Not COOL at all. No spellchecker. No toolbars to speak of. It made posting a lot of work.

Too much time was passing and the same issue kept poking me in the eye. Today was the day I needed to find something else, and looky here. My first post using writetomyblog.com. So far, so good. Oh yea, it’s free too!

Don’t miss my next post… I’m starting a series about making ends meet during the recession. I’ve spent a great deal of time researching different ways people make money on the internet. I hope to provide you with a more direct route to some extra cash than most people will experience if they turn to the internet and get lost. Don’t worry if you have no idea what I’m talking about right now, just come back soon.

Helping you make ends meet!

There’s a saying… “You Can Run but You Can’t Hide” From Gary Simpson. Ok I know, I know. That last part about Gary Simpson I just threw in because he’s called me out to the public. He’s challenged me to tell you 25 things about myself that most people don’t know. That will seriously be a challenge for me because I usually say what’s on my mind. If I haven’t said it already, it’s probably NOT really that important to me. But here’s my list…

I was one of the youngest (14yo) lifeguards for a Chicago Fire Department swimming pool. The pool was only 3 feet deep and they paid me $10.00 an hour to baby-sit the local kids while they were in the pool. That was 30 years ago. Best job I ever had!

I missed the boat to the dot com era. Straight out of high school, I worked for the Byte Shop. Every night I would carry home a big clunky computer called a Kaypro. I would practice typing on that thing and just couldn’t figure out why people were so excited to use that HUGE machine instead of the smaller typewriter. OK, it was easier for me to correct my typing errors, but who would pay that kind of money for a machine that typed orange letters. I quit my job and moved to Florida, where I trained dogs for many years.

I got my first dog from the pound when I lived in Florida. I had other dogs when I was a kid, but Jasmine was my first dog as an adult on my own. Several days after I brought her home, she still didn’t have a name. Then while I was sitting on the curb, in front of the laundry mat, I started humming the song, Oh… Jazz man. And there you go. The making of her female name. Jasmine.

I love outdoor stuff. Boating, camping, hiking, and fishing off the pier are some of my favorites. I have never caught that sheep head that hangs around the pylon of the pier at Lake Worth beach, FL. But before my final journey, I will make it a point to go back and try again.

I have a love/hate relationship with winter in Illinois.

I would much rather be with the palm trees or on an island that’s warm.

I love to travel with my kids and Mom. My husband, Jeff, let’s us take off for weeks at a time during his busy season. So, my Mom and I kind of map out a general itinerary, but wing it for the most part. On one of our trips we were gone for 5 weeks.

I have never been stung by a bee.

I once told my father to stand on a certain hill at the levee because his fishing line wouldn’t get so tangled in the weeds. Turns out that the hill was home to a mob of fire ants. Hummm… Pay backs? lol

As a kid, we could ice skate in our backyard. My sister and her friend were skating and my mom made my sister include me. During our skating, we stopped to hang over the fence and watch the new people move in. Boy was I thirsty. I couldn’t go to the house for a drink because my sister and her friend would ditch me, so I licked the fence. Yep! I got stuck to the fence. When people came to help, in a panic they said they were going to spit on my tongue to get me off. I found that to be absolutely disgusting, so I pulled myself free. I’m very lucky that I can speak.

I was a girl-scout leader for several years, even though at the time, I didn’t have kids. I still don’t have any girls. Just boys.

As I get older, more stuff grosses me out. You should see me change a diaper… C’mon, it’s like watching a comedy show.

I managed pet stores for about 7 years and now I’m allergic to everything, especially cats and ferrets.

My mom is my best friend.

I love to take a bath instead of a shower.

I gave up my ticket to the super bowl in 1999 and the pro bowl in 2001, so my husband could have a REAL football fan with him at then game. Of course, I was in the water or sunbathing during the game. But every year (that we don’t have tickets) we have a great super bowl party at our house. FYI- Super Bowl was yesterday. It was Fantastic.

For Christmas, my husband buys me things like cordless drills, tape measures and a sewing machine. One year, he bought me a necklace. I’m hoping that I can leave enough clues for this year, because I really want a new laser level. (Ryobi has a cool one)

I now spend most of my summer days on Lake Shafer in Indiana. My boys and I like to go (what we call) island hopping (they’re really sand bars) to catch tiny frogs, little fish and sometimes snail hunting.

I’m on a mission to create something for my friends and family.

My boys do most of the housework. They have a chores board they follow every week. At 8 and 10 they’re getting pretty good at it.

I think all kids should be given an allowance to teach them how money works, not because they do chores. Now raises… that’s a different story. My kids have been getting the same $3.00 a week for the past 3 years. I don’t think we’ll teach them about raises for a long time. We’re even stretching on the savings part because we tell them they have to put 1/3 into their piggy bank for long term savings. That a lot more than the typical 10% saver.

I left the mortgage business in 1998 because it didn’t take a genius to figure out that the banks were setting people up to fail. I lost a phenomenal income, but I can sleep at night knowing I didn’t take advantage of a crappy system. I still keep my houselender@_______ email address, just in case there ever comes a day that the mortgage industry will function with a sense of integrity.

I hate being on a schedule.

I have a love/hate relationship with technology. I think technology has some serious flaws in the way it interferes with human life. I find it quite pathetic to watch teenagers constantly texting, surfing the internet or playing a video game. However, I owe my life to technology. My answer to the problem lies within our household rules. Yet, I find it sad to see the social skills of even our youngest children being squashed.

I have a hard time staying on topic.

Now I’m sure many of you might have been looking for more of the business person to come out in the list above, but the business side is really an entity of my spoiled personality. I really have to tell you that I too can’t stick with the 25.

I never settle for less then the best. I will wait and wait and wait until I can have the best. The best of course, is based on my own research of what I can live with and what I can not live without. And then I must go after it. Helen Reddy sang a song that I used to sing all the time when I was kid. Go to songfacts with this link and you’ll hear one my favorite female POWER songs http://www.songfacts.com/detail.php?id=2226

The butterfly might like this song.

Talk to you again soon,

Renee

So what do know? More than a week has past since I made my first video and I’m still up to my nose sorting out Internet Marketing material. I have collected more FREE stuff than you could imagine. I guess the question I have to ask NOW should be … Is any of this stuff really GOOD? OK, maybe there are a lot of questions I have about all the FREE stuff I’ve collected, but that’s an issue I will address at a later date, unless someone knows a quick way to answer. What’s GOOD? What’s BAD? And WHY?

One of my favorite sayings in life came from my Dad. He would always say “know the nature of the beast.” Well my beast has a difficult time seeing the art of Internet Marketing. I prefer the black and white of Science. I like things cut and dry. Fact or fiction. None of this East meets West stuff for me (unless it’s food). So let me tell you now, I am working on a project that will cut through the fog and at least minimize some of the junk that’s being given to you for FREE. I’m quickly learning that the cliché, “you get what you pay for” absolutely applies to the Internet.

There are FREE programs out there like the Profit Pulling Platform, by Alex Jeffreys, that will definitely get you started on your way to building a list that every Internet Marketer must have. However, without TRUSTED testimony, you could end up spinning your wheels with a lot of useless FREE hand me downs. Believe me; I have countless hours invested into junk freebie IM material. It pains me to look back at production over the last 9 or 10 days and see very little progress.

I must admit that some of the free software or E-books went to the circular file very quickly because it just didn’t catch my attention or perhaps it just wasn’t user friendly. Some of the FREE stuff never even got downloaded to my computer because the sales copy looked and read just like everybody else’s. I might suggest that you place strict limits on the amount of time you invest in building your free e-library. I feel compelled to read or at least skim through what it is that I’m about to download. One more suggestion I have is to keep a separate email address just for your free stuff because when you’re done you’ll have a mailbox constantly full of stuff from every marketer you took free stuff from.

And that email just keeps coming in…. Watch out though, you might actually come across someone who really knows their stuff. Oh yea, I’m back at the beginning. How do I know that you know your stuff? What’s GOOD? What’s Bad? And WHY? Arggh!

We’ll talk again,

Renee

It really is quite amazing how many things I have to do in a day. Actually, they’re not things that I have to do. They are things I want to do. Take exercising as an example. Hehehe, yea, it’s the new year and we all need to make a choice. We know we should exercise. The doctors tell us to exercise. Our bodies even tell us to exercise. But do I have to? NO! I don’t have to. I am choosing to exercise.

Sounds pretty lame doesn’t it? But that’s really all it is. Writing a schedule and following the schedule was my goal. I am somewhat there. I now get up at 6:00 am. Make coffee and slip in a 5 or 10 minute personal to do. Then I do my workout, take a shower and wake the kids for school. We do our morning routine which is all about them and then they leave 8:30 am. I have open time till 9:00 and then my interneting begins. I’m really suppose to stop interneting by 3:35 pm when the kids come home but today, I’m still working. (This is me ’sneaking extra time’ into my business)

I get a little messed up still because my schedule is not automatic yet. I have many things listed on my to do list, but I haven’t worked out the fine details. I am still analysing how to actually spend my time. How much time should I allowed for an activity.

I am working on my system of taking notes and logging where I travel on the Internet. I’m still deciding how detailed I need to be about taking notes. What exactly should be included. I ‘ll keep you posted as I develop my routine better.

On the really bright side my sister, Debi, has been working by my side yesterday and today. I think she caught the itch when she helped me set up the Profit Pulling List. Debi came across some info about freebie sites that we have found to be quite interesting. We have spent some time researching the concept and have decided there is enough merit in the concept for us to look into it a little deeper. I do have to tell you that I think you’ll be hearing a lot more about Debi. I wouldn’t even be a bit surprised, if she made a post.

I have also made some changes to the blog. I don’t know if you can see a difference, but for me, Isee a lot of changes behind the scenes with our word-press blog. We upgraded to 2.7. I now have a Gravatar. (that’s a cool picture that shows up everywhere I go) I have also been searching for a new theme, but haven’t come across one that works well for me. Most of the tasks this week are dedicated to housekeeping.

Housekeeping of the blog! We’ll be adding new plug-ins and testing them out.

Talk with you soon,

PS One of the things I find most annoying about this theme is that even though I space my writing out in the comments section, it still shows up all smushed together.
